Think Fast! Steely Dan Returns

Most rock & roll bands are a tightly wound unit that developed their music through years of playing in garages and clubs around their hometown. Steely Dan never subscribed to that aesthetic. As the vehicle for the songwriting of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, Steely Dan defied all rock & roll conventions. Becker and Fagen never truly enjoyed rock -- with their ironic humor and cryptic lyrics, their eclectic body of work prefers Chet Baker jazz, traditional pop, blues, and R&B. Steely Dan created a sophisticated, distinctive sound with accessible melodic hooks, complex harmonies and time signatures, and a devotion to the recording studio.

With the help of punchy horns, backup singers and the standard rock-band complement (bass, guitar, drums, keyboards), Fagen and Becker maintained what really was a long look back at how Baker and his audience must have anticipated an easy future of personal jet packs, video phones and ever-larger tailfins.

Yes | Backstage Passes > 2008 Tour Dates

YES, you heard right.......Yes is back, and Jon Anderson is ready to take the world by storm and we've got backstage passes for Yes.

When Yes went on hiatus after their 2004 tour it wasn't a decision that Jon had taken lightly. After all, Yes had been touring regularly since 1997, and though the band could have continued Jon decided to take a break, mainly due to issues with his health (which he discusses below). As his health gradually improved he embarked on solo tours where he accompanied himself on guitar and piano, allowing his creative juices to flow and taking the rigors of the road at a more leisurely pace. In addition Jon participated in the School of Rock, where he enjoyed showing young (and not-so-young) musicians the joys of performing.

In the interim Yes had changed management, and ultimately Jon agreed with Steve Howe, Alan White, and Chris Squire that 2008 was going to be the year where Yes would return. Rick Wakeman decided that, in order to maintain his health, he had to limit his traveling, and decided to not return to Yes. However, his son Oliver--who was equally adept at marshalling multiple keyboards--was recruited to fill in for the 2008 tour.

Last month, Brad Paisley played The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to a crowd of 73,003 paid attendees. This gave Paisley the prestigious honor of holding the attendance record for any country music artist and the third highest of any genre in the 76 year history of the Rodeo.
